Mai Tais in Monterey

A good friend of mine had her birthday right before Thanksgiving. We celebrated it the following Friday at a wonderful little restaurant in Monterey called Hula's. Normally at 3:30 in the afternoon on a Friday, this Hawaiian-style restaurant and bar, which boasts a 2-6 happy hour, is fairly empty. But being Black Friday, and all, it was a zoo! Zignut, my friend, an alias, obviously, and I arrived to a full house, yet fate left us our favorite table by the window.
We warned the waitress we were gonna be here awhile. After all, $5 Mai Tais and Pupus are hard to pass up! The first few Mai Tais went pretty fast, then Zignut turned it up a notch. She was drinking doubles to my singles. Life began to get interesting.  Boom! Out came the camera and it was a media fest, posing with everything from the menu to the Tiki statues that were mistakenly not glued down. It was a narcissistic barrage of self portraiting at the expense of everyone in the restaurant! No one seemed to mind until a group of 12 little people walked into the crowded bar and Zignut declares, "I want a photo with the midgets!" I don't like SMS or Instant Messaging BS so I'll just say it, oh my fucking GOD! What the hell was that. One looked over and rolled his eyes in disgust as Zignut was saying, "What? They couldn't here me". I was waiting for them to yell, "Into formation!", and stack up on top of each other and punch Zignut in the face...that would have been tits up funny! Anyway, I slid her Mai Tai back in front of her to let her refuel and see what would happen next.
Another barrage of self portraits with the camera getting every angle of Zignut it could from her outstretched arm. To my right, a new couple had sat down. They had a cute 6-8month old little girl. Zignut began dropping F bombs like a recovering coke addict drops chocolate-covered coffee beans.  I attempted to quell the overflow only to be told, "That fucking baby can't understand a fucking word I'm saying." True. But she does have her parents and her grandparents there smiling uncomfortably as the were bombarded with expletives. She even got jealous of the attention I was giving the baby rather than her.
Now, as I read back over this, I have painted a horrible picture of Zignut. Let me say this is one of the most wonderful people in the world. She is one of my oldest and best friends. But it was a night to remember. I sat there and watched this epic masterpiece unfold. We had a great time at everyone's expense.  I have to say, though, I was ready to get out of there. It was only 6:30pm when we left, but the leaving needed to happen!!!!! Rock'n'Roll!

The journey of the Mad Maggies Pt. 1

On Sunday, November 28th, I will be auditioning for the drummer position in a fantastically fun jigging piritate-style band called The Mad Maggies. So far I've only had contact by e-mail with the leader, Magdaline, who goes simply by M. She seems to be a very fun person full of energy and life and the love of music! I have been given a list of 7 songs that will test a range of skills in timing, , tempo, dynamics and style. They are all a challange, but I am loving it! With that, I must get to practicing. I'll update this as the drama unfolds. Hopefully I will be able to right a long time about this journey! Peace!

Gobble, gobble.....crab!

Happy day of giving thanks. In a world massed with so much anger and confusion, I am thankful for the ability to step back and be thankful for all the good things in my life, which I might add, are very plentiful. In the past year I've had to reinvent myself without changing the basic formula that is me. Very difficult stuff. But amazingly enough, fairly effortless. I found if I just let go, I can watch everything dance around and fall into its place without doing anything. Granted, some thimgs don't fall in the correct spot, but a little tweaking takes care of that. With the right people around, I have mastered the ability to heal and continue on in a constructive manner....I am truly thankful for my peeps!!!!
As for this day, I am starting a new tradition. I'm not cooking ever again! I will host a crab feast with all the fun raw trimmings. No, the crab will be cooked, I just won't be doing the cooking. They will be pre assaulted.  Seeing as how I am one of the millions that has to wake up at the crack of 2am on Black Friday, I found the traditional Turkey dinner too heavy. So I am swapping it out for the yumminess of crab! I will let update the outcome later.

Hello world!

It is near the end of 2010 and I finally entered the world of BLOG. I was pre-immunized, so there should be no adverse affects of my blog condition towards my health...hopefully. Not much of what I say makes practical sense unless I am talking to you about new things I have discovered throught the help of my friends at Bzzagent.com. Yes, I am a Bzz agent. I know, right? But whatever. It's a great medium for us talkers. So whilst I am not sharing fantastic new stuff, or websites, or deals or what not, I will dazzle you with the inane ramblings of a truly gifted spinning babbler. Thanks for joining and have fun! Period!
